Swiss Institute offers four residencies per year in an effort to support artists beyond the parameters of commissions and exhibition making. For three months, residents are provided with an apartment a few blocks away from SI’s galleries in the heart of the East Village. Through meetings with our curatorial team, artists can consult on various aspects of their practice, conduct research, and develop new work. The residency is unique in that there are no deadlines and no production requirements. With SI serving as a liaison between the artist and the city, residents are given a rare opportunity to live, learn and work in an independent and generative environment. SI currently hosts residencies supported by ProHelvetia, SAHA Association, and Clarice Oliveira Tavares. Artists-in-residence include: İz Öztat, Jo Baan, Roman Selim Khereddine, Tania Ximena, Latefa Wiersch, Tiphanie Kim Mall, Tao Hui, Manuel Chavajay, Deborah-Joyce Holman, James Bantone, Heman Chong, Guillaume Dénervaud, Gina Folly, Lorenza Longhi, Noé MartÃnez & MarÃa Sosa, Christof Nüssli, Ceylan Öztrük, Abigail Reyes, Sabrina Röthlisberger, Alan Schmalz, Dardan Zhegrova and Julia Znoj, and Lidija Delić.
